Innovation

What a boring word, and a flag you can be sure that says: this is where things will get old and tired.  If you want the spice of new flavors, stop being predictable.  Follow a thread that makes absolutely no sense and you will find another industry at the other end.

Mirrors

Psychologists tell us that what we observe in other people are really what we know to be true about ourselves.  If you have ever been shocked at someone’s feedback, it might be that they are saying a whole lot more about themselves than they are about you.  On the other hand, your emotional reaction might tell you more about you than them.  Do you want to give away that secret by reacting?  Or discover it yourself?

When you can, why not?

Gold

Did you know that gold is incredibly heavy?  Give your wishes as much weight as possible, and not just the whisper of a thought unspoken, and image undefined and a saved up feeling.  Athletes use it all the time, and science knows it works.

Characters

How someone acts in one disaster dictates every disaster.  Sometimes we learn and change behaviour, but in a disaster not only is is hard to derail instinctual thinking, it is hard to learn from it.  Information systems go haywire, like perception and memory, both required for learning.  Only fifteen percent of people stay calm.  Pay attention to who you would want around and who you might be in that moment.  Someone ready, prepared and able, or someone who rarely shows up on time with their homework complete?

Freedom of Spirit

Security and freedom often look like opposites, but they are in fact the same.  Maximum security, as demonstrated by society is prison, and a total loss of freedom.  Salaries and tenure look like security.  Society is like salt water, fine to swim in but poision to drink.  Freedom is security.  A paycheck is merely the illusion of a security that can be undone in a heartbeat, a jail merely the manifestation of it.  True security is true freedom that a jail cannot touch.

Authority

A manager takes his talent and finds the best places for it to shine.  A boss doesn’t let talent bother him.  A manager says, “that was awesome and even better if…” A boss says, “hey you, whoever you are…”  Find a manager, or hire yourself.

Annoyance

Of all the things we can get annoyed about, one we all share is truth.  It’s unyielding rigidity, irrepressible existence and intimidating scope is the ultimate ministry, officer and judge.

Gluttony

Some people have eyes bigger than their stomachs at the buffet.  Some people have wallets bigger than their budgets when it comes to clothes, toys and socialization.  I do it at the library, constantly borrowing against future time, urged on by a different hunger.  What is your hunger for?

Reverse Engineering

They are trying to reverse engineer the big bang and are getting closer.  If every idea of religion is right, that we all came from some kind of all-knowing pure being, then wouldn’t reverse engineering give rise to the opposite of that idea of “God”?  Will science bring us closer to hell on earth?  Kinda seems we are headed that way anyway.

Boundaries

Everyone needs somewhere in life where they know they make the rules.  Getting to put your foot down is sweet relief in a world of aggressive and lazy people looking to make their lives easier by making everyone else bend to their will.  Will is a pool we all share equally.  How long can you tred water before it is too exhausting?  Do you measure it in minutes or years?  You just might find you can touch bottom.
